Photovoltaics · Madrid · Spain

The sun has worked with us for 19 years.

We develop, finance and operate photovoltaic plants. We take a stake in the projects we assess, so our judgement does not come free: it costs us the same as it costs you.

Who we are

We started with one installation. What we kept was the trade.

Albujon Energy was incorporated in March 2007 under the name Albujon Solar 81, just as the sector was taking off in Spain. The plan was simple: build a plant and make it pay.

What came next was not in the plan. The feed-in tariff boom. The regulatory halt of 2012. The fall in module prices. The arrival of self-consumption. Each stage forced us to learn the business again, and that is the experience we bring to the table today.

We are a small outfit, and we work that way on purpose. Whoever studies a project is the one who argues for it, and the one who answers three years later.

A solar project is judged twenty-five years ahead. We have been looking that far for 19 years.

19 Years of track record

Incorporated in March 2007, before the sector's first cycle in Spain.

3 Regulatory frameworks

Feed-in tariffs, moratorium and auctions. We have operated under all three.

25years Horizon of analysis

It is the service life by which a plant is judged, and by which we judge it.

What we do

Four stages where a project is won or lost.

We do not do everything. We step in where accumulated experience changes the outcome, and we say no when it does not.

  1. Project development

Site search and assessment, solar resource studies, administrative procedures and the handling of grid access and connection permits. The aim is to reach “ready to build” with no surprises along the way.

  2. Investment and structuring

We take stakes in our own projects and in those of third parties. We model the base case, test the production and price assumptions against real series, and put together the capital structure the project can genuinely bear.

  3. Industrial self-consumption

Rooftop and ground-mounted installations for companies with high consumption. We size them from the actual load curve, not from the square metres available, and we calculate the saving using the tariffs the client pays today.

  4. Operation and maintenance

Production monitoring, preventive and corrective maintenance, and the handling of warranties against manufacturer and installer. So that the plant yields in year twenty what it promised in year one.

Why us

Three things you notice when a project gets difficult.

  • Track record, not a founding date

Incorporated in 2007. We have operated under three different regulatory frameworks, and we know which assumptions age badly in a financial model because we have watched them age.

  • Our own capital inside

We do not charge for recommending. We take a shareholding, which aligns our judgement with the interest of the project throughout the life of the asset, not only up to signature.

  • You speak to whoever decides

No intermediate layers and no account managers. The person who analyses the project is the one who signs and the one who picks up the phone when something has to be sorted out.
